The HardenedBSD project has released its August/September 2026 status report, highlighting upcoming activities including quarterly release engineering week, during which select security-related commits from FreeBSD will be cherry-picked into HardenedBSD's 15-stable branch. The report also discusses the integration of the `-fbounds-safety` feature, which, although currently disabled by default, will provide downstream users with the ability to easily enable this experimental feature in their own code. The feature is currently only applied to userland, with plans to extend it to the kernel and kernel modules once it is considered production-ready by the clang/llvm community.
